The University of Phayao Joins “Reviving a City’s Soul Festival: from Research to Area Development” at Mae Fah Luang University.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpoh, Acting President of the University of Phayao, together with Acting Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Wuttichai Chairincome, Assistant to the President, Mrs. Jaruwan Poshyananda and Phayao Cultural Space researchers from the School of Business and Communication Arts and the School of Architecture and Fine Arts, joined the “Reviving a City’s Soul Festival: from Research to Area Development (Northern Region)” at Mae Fah Luang University. The event was held from February 24 to February 26, 2023.

The event was opened by H.E. Prof. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand (MHESI). Mr. Samphan Yensamran, Advisor to the Minister of MHESI, also presented at the event. The director of the Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development (PMU-A), Dr. Kitti Satjawattana, gave a talk on the objectives of the event. Adjunct Professor Dr. Vanchai Sirichana, the Chairman of Mae Fah Luang University Council, and Assoc. Prof. Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University, gave a welcoming address at the event.

The event aims to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to exchange knowledge, sell cultural products and services, and organize academic activities and cultural performances. This should lead to the driving of cultural capital to the local communities.

Moreover, the cultural products from the Phayao Cultural Space project and the Diversity to Unique of Phayao project by Miss Priyachanok Ketsuwan

and cultural entrepreneurs’ group were displayed at the event.

This event supports SDGs 4, 5, 8, 10, and 17.
