The 5Ps of the Sustainable Development Goals
We are determined to end poverty and hunger, in all their forms and dimensions, and to ensure that all human beings can fulfil their potential in dignity and equality and in a healthy environment.
Goals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 fall under the People category. As the United Nations dictates, the 2030 Agenda is to leave no one behind. The first two goals address the most basic sustenance. Goals 3 and 4 assert access to health, well-being and education. Goal 5 focuses on empowering girls and women around the world by asserting equal opportunity in jobs, food and education.
We are determined to protect the planet from degradation, including through sustainable consumption and production, sustainably managing its natural resources and taking urgent action on climate change.
Goals 6, 12, 13, 14 and 15 fall under the Planet category. These goals recognize that environmental sustainability is the foundation upon which all other development must rest. University of Phayao actively contributes through its Green Campus initiatives, waste management programmes, and conservation of Kwan Phayao — one of Thailand's largest freshwater lakes.
We are determined to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature.
Goals 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 fall under the Prosperity category. University of Phayao promotes clean energy, innovation, and inclusive economic growth through research partnerships with industry, Work-integrated Learning (WiL) programmes, and community development initiatives across the northern region of Thailand.
We are determined to foster peaceful, just and inclusive societies which are free from fear and violence. There can be no sustainable development without peace and no peace without sustainable development.
Goal 16 falls under the Peace category. It promotes peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice for all, and effective, accountable institutions at all levels. University of Phayao upholds principles of good governance, transparency, and equal access to education and justice for all members of its community.
We are determined to mobilize the means required to implement this Agenda through a revitalized Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, based on a spirit of strengthened global solidarity.
Goal 17 falls under the Partnership category. University of Phayao actively builds partnerships with schools, educational institutions, industries, government agencies, and international organizations — including participation in the SDSN Thailand Public Forum — to accelerate progress toward all 17 SDGs across Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region.
