Water Supply and Loss Management

Water Management

According to the fiscal year 2026 data, University of Phayao can produce tap water accounting for 79% of the total amount used (282,997 cubic meters), while external tap water from the Provincial Waterworks Authority is imported, accounting for 19.35% (67,898 cubic meters). A SCADA computer system controls the water production system within University of Phayao, displays water quality online, and analyzes historical and new data remotely in real-time. The water produced from the university's water production system can be supplied to users with an average of 1,818 cubic meters per day, or an average of 54,541 cubic meters per month.

Water Leak Detection and Fix Immediately

The university has a digital water supply system that allows it to monitor water usage at every location and even determine whether the water meter is functioning properly. The online system allows relevant officials to review the work at any time. The system will notify users right away if there is an anomalous operation, such as a broken or leaky pipe, so officials can enter the area right away to check or make repairs.

Digital Water Meter Project

The Division of Buildings and Facilities launched a digital water meter project. This is to enhance the university's standard to a digital era and to develop students' and staff's quality of life by installing digital water meters to faculties at 40 points covering around the campus.

Accurate data on water consumption may be monitored and checked online. If the system detects unexpected consumption, a warning will alert. This information supports sustainable water management and helps in problem solutions.

This reduction in water usage over the past five years is attributed to the implementation of a water management system. As a result, the university's annual water consumption has consistently remained below the average of 547,253 cubic meters per year, ranging from 409,000 – 533,000 cubic meters per year.

Perform Maintenance on Water Supply Pipelines to Reduce Water Loss

The Division of Buildings and Facilities has been regularly inspecting and repairing the water pipe system, including inspecting and maintaining the sanitary fixtures in the bathrooms of campus buildings, to help reduce the loss of water resources and save on the cost of producing tap water for the university.
