SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals

University of Phayao and Nanhua University, Taiwan, Jointly Develop Young People through the NHU x UP Higher Education Sprout Project

The University of Phayao, together with Nanhua University in Taiwan, promotes learning and the exchange of sustainable development practices through the “NHU x UP Higher Education Sprout Project.” Nanhua University provides 2 scholarships to University of Phayao students to build their capacity and acquire knowledge that can be applied to community development.

The project focuses on learning in two areas: cultivating Thob mushrooms (earthstar mushrooms) without burning forests, to promote sustainable food production and reduce environmental impact, linked to SDG 2 and SDG 13; and learning teaching methods and developing learning materials for children and young people in remote areas, to expand access to quality education and support sustainable community development, linked to SDG 4 and SDG 11.

On 14 October 2025, the scholarship recipients met with the President of the University of Phayao to receive guidance on their preparation, with an emphasis on planning their learning and applying the knowledge gained to benefit communities in Phayao Province. This collaboration therefore serves as a mechanism to support learning about SDG practices among higher education institutions at the international level and to connect knowledge with local development, under SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
