Overview
The University of Phayao is committed to expanding educational opportunities for students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds through a wide range of scholarship programmes. In parallel, the university actively implements community development initiatives across Phayao Province and Northern Thailand to enhance quality of life, strengthen local economies, and reduce social inequalities.Policies and Plans
- Provision of scholarship support at all levels, ranging from full grants to student loan programmes.
- Integration of the University of Phayao Strategic Plan 2023–2027 with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), coordinated by the Division of Planning.

Implementation
Scholarship Support
- Various Grant Scholarships administered through the Division of Student Quality Development and Students with Disabilities (DSQ), including Academic Excellence Scholarships, Financial Need Scholarships, scholarships provided by the University Promotion Committee, Ajinomoto Scholarships, and scholarships supported by private-sector organizations.
- Student Loan Fund (SLF) provides consultation and support services for students receiving educational loans.
- Scholarships for Students with Disabilities together with comprehensive facilities and support services to ensure equal access to education.
Community Engagement
- One Faculty, One Community Innovation Project, led by the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources in collaboration with the Phayao Provincial Livestock Office, promotes high-quality beef cattle farming, increases household income, and encourages environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
- Collaboration with the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to address educational inequality in Phayao Province through the development of a database identifying students at risk of dropping out of the education system.
Student Admission Programmes
- Direct Admission Programme for students residing within the university's service area, providing greater access to higher education for local youth.
- Community-Based Nursing Education Programme and Dental Education Programme for Royal Development Areas, aimed at producing healthcare professionals who will return to serve their local communities.
