Sustainable Development Goal 17 of 17

Overview

The University of Phayao has consistently been recognized in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for Quality Education (SDG 4), ranking 6th in Thailand and within the 101–200 band globally for three consecutive years (2022–2024). In addition, Phayao Province was admitted to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities in 2022, reflecting the university’s commitment to lifelong learning and inclusive educational development.

Policies and Plans

  • The University of Phayao Strategic Plan 2023–2027 aims to transform the institution into a Sustainable Entrepreneurial University.
  • Through the Phayao Learning City initiative in collaboration with UNESCO, the “UP to Upskill, Reskill and New Skill” programme expands opportunities for lifelong learning for people of all ages.
  • The university collaborates with ThaiPBS and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to address school dropout issues and improve educational opportunities in Phayao Province.

Academic Programmes

  • Master’s and doctoral degree programmes across diverse disciplines.

  • Student admissions are conducted annually through the TCAS system with multiple admission rounds and schemes.

Educational Innovation

  • e-Learning platform supporting digital and blended learning.
  • 360 VR Tour platform providing virtual access to university facilities and learning environments.
  • Learning Resources and Educational Services Center supporting academic learning, research, and information access.

University Demonstration School

  • Provides education from kindergarten through secondary school levels.
  • Serves as a professional teaching practice site for students of the School of Education.

Phayao Learning City

  • Recognized by UNESCO as a member of the Global Network of Learning Cities in 2022.
  • Applies Design Thinking approaches to curriculum development and the enhancement of local wisdom for sustainable community learning.
